Oh! Oh man! Is it 2:00 already? Time flies, I tell you. My old clock got out of it's cage and flew away the other day. Haven't seen him since. Nevertheless, sorry for the delay! I've been out taking a few selfies.

Now, don't get me wrong. I dislike those Toonbook girls spamming their walls with selfies as much as you do, but there's just something about it. I added this new camera angle, and now I can't stop. In fact, I added two more camera angles to get some selfies at even more awesome angles. Oooh man, these are going to look great in the scrap book.

In the spirit of the snapshots we discussed yesterday, this update is entirely focused on them. There's a lot more for it coming up tomorrow with Super Saturday, along with some other things you have been waiting a long time for. Grab a camera, find some friends, and get your hype up! Not too far up, though -- just slightly more hype than you had in previous weeks. But again, not too much. Please don't arrive with an angry mob when it isn't these weird robot things that you guys keep talking about.

Before I end this post, let me ask you, what kind of improvements can we make to help you take better screenshots or videos?

January 17, 2014 [ttr-alpha-gca2ed12]

Maintenance:
• Screenshots are now saved as PNG files. This is experimental, so please excuse any wacky ones!

Bugfixes:
• Dog noses no longer appear in front of the camera when viewing from a toon's perspective.

Tweaks:
• Added 3 new camera angles: Front, right side, and left side.
• You can now press F3 to turn off the GUI. This is useful for taking snapshots, however you may end up with some strange looking gameplay if you keep it.
• Added a new flash visual to go along with the shutter sound when taking snapshots.

Sorry max, but apparently everyone LIKES the robots trying to make us go sad. Something about fighting business being fun.

Cool! Soon Joey's going to have Oculus Rift support for this game. :P

Starlight said on January 17, 2014 at 2:46 PM
Add more camera angles like from the bottom, top, top left corner, top right corner, bottom left corner and bottom right corner. Maybe, if it's possible, you can make the toon have different expressions to choose from? And this is really far fetched and maybe for later on or something but add effects like black and white, sepia, glow, dream, etc... Just a suggestion though :).

This update is truly magical.

To help make screenshots better maybe you could choose what key on your key board you could use to take screenshots? Because my laptop has a hard time with the function keys! Thanks, can't wait for tomorrow!

Blue said on January 17, 2014 at 2:53 PM
Cant wait until the full game to come out! Thanks for bringing the back!

Sercret Toon said on January 17, 2014 at 3:02 PM
I think that if you wanted to take a video, you could hold down the screenshot button and have it ask "Do you want to record a video?" If you click yes, then there should be a red button at the button that says "rec.", then it'll record. When you're done you can just press the screenshot button. Then later you could go in the TTR files and look at the video you took and edit it and stuff. Do you guys like that idea? ^^

Hey guys! I can't wait until Saturday! Hopefully it's the day of Beta launching! Best of luck to you! - Caramel Mocha

There should be an onscreen record/stop recording button! :D Than we wont have to download those screen recorders, it would be much more easy, safe, and fun! This would be a great improvement all of us would love.. I hope you take this suggestion seriously and not ignore it like disney...

Cre said on January 17, 2014 at 3:32 PM
Instead of making the camera stationary, you could keep the default camera spots (1st pov, follow near, follow far, esc) and make it possible to say, rotate it around your character freely using your mouse... Kind of like in MMOs, were you often have a character follow mode, and then a free camera mode which you can rotate around your character.

When will the next set of codes come out? also awesome idea on the camera angles

Master Blinky said on January 17, 2014 at 4:33 PM
One improvement I would suggest for improvement on the screenshot capture function in the game is to have an option in the Shticker book to change the default location (Pictures Library in Vista > or My Pictures in Windows XP or leave it Default, which is the installation folder) and the ability to choose the output for the screenshot (.jpg or .png and the percentage of quality it should maintain. It could be three options: Good, Great, Best). Having this ability to change it either from in-game or from the launcher will definitely make screenshots more functional. A configuration file could hold these options set.

Macks said on January 17, 2014 at 4:47 PM
Maybe support streams if you don't do already. Other than that maybe a ingame photo album that you can put on your phone or something. Maybe put it in a stickerbook page and you can edit the pics. (delete, crop, save, regular camera stuff)

I think that everything is just as fine as it can be, and am looking forward to the opening!

Weird robot things? What weird robot things? Come on, max, everyone knows robots aren't real... Right?

Keep up the good work with the alpha updates! So far, I've viewed this page to see the progress you guys have made and it's really cool what you guys are accomplishing :)

Clover Hulagrooven said on January 17, 2014 at 5:50 PM
I love the flash idea! Can't wait till tomorrow! Oh and don't worry about the robots! (It's not like they'll take over or any thing ;) )

Fluffy Whiskerroni said on January 17, 2014 at 6:23 PM
Maybe we can have an in-game screenshot not needing to use your computer, you can just go in your book and click "screenshot and it will exit you out of the book and you will be standing and have the opportunity to move around and click a button to take a picture. Would make everything much easier, and then we can get a link on toontownrewritten.com/pictures/randomnumberscangohere and we can do whatever we want with that link. I think it would simply improve the quality and simplicity of taking pictures of your toons.

McWoof said on January 17, 2014 at 6:24 PM
You guys should add a function to record gameplay :)

LittleCoconutFlipperdoodle said on January 17, 2014 at 6:26 PM
i like the fixed camera angles, but maybe there can be a button in the sticker book where you can record/ stop recording your gameplay? also maybe there can be a toggle fixed camera/ wandering camera (like how toontown was in disney vs in other games where you can control the camera's angles). i'm just saying this because i really like how the camera doesnt move and how you dont have to keep finding the back of your character. I'd hate to see that go.

Bob Monkeyman said on January 17, 2014 at 7:21 PM
You should add a section to the shticker book for adding effects to the photos.

Kittoodle said on January 17, 2014 at 8:55 PM
PLEASE make more angles to choose from when you press the "tab" button. I strongly suggest a full front view, instead of a view of you from the air on only one side (like the view you get when someone is right across from you). It would be greatly appreciated!

Master Chipper said on January 18, 2014 at 1:34 AM
Thank you so much for bringing Toontown back! This update done more in one day than Disney did in one year. I'm so glad that Toontown will be headed by people who actually care about it, and I can't wait to play it again!

aw man! Me and my family have missed toowntown a lot, and we are exited for TTR!

Rosy said on January 18, 2014 at 7:06 AM
Maybe you could make a scrapbook that holds all the pictures you take and you can decorate it and hold it by the sticker book

Unwritten said on January 18, 2014 at 8:44 AM
I cannot WAIT until this is open for play. I had been playing the original toontown since I was about 6 and now I'm 14. It was so sad when they closed it. It's like your childhood wilting away and dieing without you even knowing it :/. Anyways, this looks super fun! I love the ideas of selflies. Maybe my toon will take better selfies than I do :)

Spike Pedalcrunch said on January 18, 2014 at 8:44 AM
You're just awesome. Maybe too awesome.

Cool Skipper Lemontoon said on January 18, 2014 at 9:06 AM
I'm not starting an evil conspiracy or anything, but TT needs those evil robots called Cogs. It's the only way to get better gags!

Dinotale7 said on January 18, 2014 at 9:08 AM
This is going to be awesome. I can't wait!

Xero said on January 18, 2014 at 9:39 AM
I just found out about Toontown Rewritten today. Thank you so much for doing this!

Little Trixie Gigglemuffin said on January 18, 2014 at 10:21 AM
There should be a "camera" on the game. Like, you click on it and it takes a screenshot of the game instead of taking screenshots on the computer.

Isabella said on January 18, 2014 at 2:12 PM
Your right, My sister loves Toonbook and selfies so I get worried of her. Well, nothings better than taking some selfies click, click!

[added something to this, sorry for the double comment] I'd LOVE to see more emotions/animations. Not are they only useful in certain situations, but they're also useful for videos. I'm not sure this is totally realistic since the game isn't all about videos, but I would love like, a kit specifically for videos/pictures. You could buy it in the cattlelog and activate it somehow and you would appear in a totally empty district, but people could teleport to you. Maybe not have the NPC's like Mickey, Daisy, and everyone else, and you could be able to use all of the animations including the ones that aren't emotions, like battle animations, animations used on the trolley, all of them (once you disable it, it would go back to normal, of course). They could also activate the base.oobe() code thing so they could change their view to how they like. Oh, it would also be cool if we could control what direction our head and eyes face, and control our collisions. I would seriously love that if it was added in, although I am not expecting it to.

Princess Hulagadget said on January 19, 2014 at 5:43 PM
LOVE the new camera angles! Only suggestion though, is to also add one that's like front but a bit farther back. My feet are cut off slightly in the current Front camera angle.
